ZheJiang · Private Penthouse
The owner of the Zhejiang Private Penthouse is a lady who espouses the values of freedom and shared experiences while pursuing art and fashion. In her vision, a holiday home should offer a serene atmosphere, complemented by a lasting poetic essence. This aligns with the younger, avant-garde philosophy of YuQiang & Partners and its subsidiary brand, EK Design. Understanding the emotional appeals and expectations of the homeowner, the designers also faced the practical challenge of transforming the space: a 650m² flat with a scattered and cramped basic spatial layout; too symmetrical space divisions seemed to obstruct the flow of inspiration and the possibility of variation. With an overarching perspective in mind, the designers chose not to fundamentally restructure the space but instead applied a “fragmentary” approach at the visual level: through asymmetric, three-dimensional, and curvilinear layouts, they created a “gentle hurricane” using a mild and subtle “deconstructive” method, crafting an artful holiday home that goes beyond concrete thematic concepts to embrace the essence of real life.
