ShenZhen · Gunse Lingnan Cuisine
Gunse Lingnan Cuisine is nestled in a spot in Shenzhen renowned for its rich cultural and artistic ambiance, alongside the Guan Shanyue Art Museum. Setting itself apart from the contemporary high-end dining scene, its interior permanently houses a selection of the museum’s collected books and exquisite paintings. YuQiang Group, sidestepping the path of luxury opulence, opts to embark on a journey back to the essence of Lingnan culture, encapsulating simplicity, elegance, and richness as the gastronomic add-ons. This approach aims to foster a cultural dining atmosphere where art-loving and culinary enthusiasts of the intellectual community can “taste the art amidst dining, and appreciate art within the gastronomy.” Blessed with the natural abundance of the Lingnan region, known for its rich fish and rice culture, the experience is aligned with the guiding principle of “Culture—Art—Experience—Life,” embedding the unique foundation of Cantonese cuisine within the distinctive cultural experience of the Lingnan area.
Through an aerial “frolicking wandering” goldfish installation, the front lobby corridor hopes to use the humanistic “book” and the natural “fish” as carriers to create a “literary corridor” that serves as a medium for information transmission while retaining its ornamental value. The handcrafted goldfish installation acts as a captivating highlight within the dark-hued space. The walking path follows the tail swing of the fish, guiding movement, while the vivid red color produces a leaping effect, allowing guests to feel an intangible interactive guidance upon entry. Taoism regards the “circle” as a symbol of inner harmony and the “square” as a metaphor for prudence in actions. Our design pursuit also aims for a balance between the round and the square, the rigid and the flexible. The brass’s hard metallic texture takes on a curved form, while the warm and approachable wood is characterized by distinct edges and orderly lines, emitting a traditional flavor. Private dining rooms are adorned with refined wooden lattice lines, complemented by a refreshing and elegant tea ceremony set-up. Following the swaying goldfish, daylight filters through the bamboo into the room, embodying the tangible bamboo with the intangible poetry.
